Abstract

Information about the formation and developing of the scientific school of geomechanics in the Institute of Mining of the Russian Academy of Sciences, headed by the doctor of engineering, professor, A. D. Sashurin, is given. For almost 60 years the school has passed the way of scientific knowledge of the processes and phenomena in the rock mass accompanying the development of mineral deposits. The basic fundamental problems of geomechanics and geodynamics are identified, the relevance of research results at mining enterprises is shown. Basic results of fundamental and applied scientific researches carried out by scientists of the Ural-geomechanical in the period 2008-2018.
It is shown that the opening of the interrelatedness of the natural and man-made disasters with the contemporary geodynamic movements expands the practical application of the results of studies of mining engineering to other areas of the subsoil use with access to the forecasting and prevention of natural and technogenic accidents and catastrophes.
