Currently, an urgent environmental problem of a
global scale is the formation and discharge of mine
water containing elevated concentrations of pollutants. One of the most polluted rivers in the Sverdlovsk region is Tagil river.
It is established that in the upper reaches of the
river Tagil, where there is practically no anthropogenic load, the content of copper, iron, aluminum is
4-7 times higher than the maximum permissible
concentration for fishery reservoirs. In the middle,
and especially in the lower reaches, the ecological
condition of the river is significantly deteriorating,
including due to closed and flooded copper pyrites
mines. Despite a fairly high degree of purification
of mine water, the main components polluting the
river exceed the MPC for iron, copper and zinc by
tens and hundreds of times. The main causes of
pollution of water bodies are the low rate of selfrehabilitation of the hydrosphere after completion
of field development and the abnormal operation of
treatment facilities, without complete modernization of which the problems of the unsatisfactory
state of the hydrosphere cannot be solved.
