Abstract

In the article, the questions connected with safety of underground mining operations are considered. The data on the level of fatal traumatism on production for mining industry as of 2016 are analyzed: the main reasons and the injuring factors are given. The research focuses on the fact that a small proportion of the detected violations of fastening and management of the roof of mine workings (10% of the total number of all detected violations for the year), have led to fatal accidents associated with the collapse of the rock mass, constituting the largest part of all occurrences (38%).
Authors conclude that the existing normative documents in the field of mining industry are insufficient оn the basis of the review of normative and methodical documentation. The question about the need of implementing guidelines for the development, coordination and approval of required technological instructions and regulations for the fixing of mine workings is raised, which will significantly reduce the number of accidents in conducting underground mining works.
