Abstract

New designs and schemes have been developed for connecting the gas-permeable protective blasting mats made of truck tires, which are tested and used in the course of blast works in confined spaces on the north-western part of the Karagaysky open-pit mine of the mining enterprise of PAO Kombinat Magnesite. The development of protective blasting mats has applied a new method for fastening the
truck tires by means of single-screw rope and chain slings. The paper has proposed the options for fastening the truck tires by means of rope or chain slings through steel ropes (slings) or chains on tires or elongated rim bolts (eyelets on bolts) radially located in tire tread. The protective blasting mats made of truck tires have been preliminary tested.
