LABORATORY OF UNDERGROUND GEOTECHNOLOGY, INSTITUTE OF MINING OF UB OF RAS, AND COMPREHENSIVE RESEARCH OF UNDERGROUND GEOTECHNOLOGY AND CURRENT TRENDS IN ITS DEVELOPMENT

Abstract

The fundamental research of the laboratory of underground geotechnology is devoted to the problems and trends in the development of underground geotechnology in the framework of substantiating the general strategy of mineral deposits mining, considering a mining enterprise as a mining technical system. The paper formulates main points of the geotechnological strategy for the combined open and underground mining of deep deposits. It systematizes methods for mining the transition zone from open-pit to underground mining based on the indicator of isolation of underground workings, and it considers strategy options using descending and ascending methods of deposit mining, as well as with underground ore processing. We define here the concept of the transition process in mining strategy
and consider in detail technological aspects of deposit mining: opening of reserves, technology of underground mining, mass ore breaking, and underground processing plant. The article gives the results of applied research of the laboratory (research work, projects and regulations).
