In a complex market context, especially the one limited by the periods when oil and gas prices are being reduced and
the investments in the oil and gas industry are decreasing, innovations represent a powerful tool for improving operational efficiency and, above all, for reducing the cost of investment projects by several billion dollars. The oil and gas industry faces various technological difficulties: problems connected with hard-to-extract oil and gas deposits, with reduction of oil extraction index (OEI), well flooding, personnel safety problems, etc. So digitalization will solve many issues, especially those that have not been yet studied properly. Moreover, informational, economical and socio-political development of society nowadays is directly related to the culture of digital technology. In many countries, including Kazakhstan, the objective need for technological and
structural reforms stimulate the governments to take some decisions with regard to the use of digital technology in
various spheres of people’s activity. In particular, the developed "Digital Kazakhstan" program allows to provide favorable working conditions in the oil and gas sector. The oil and gas industry in Kazakhstan is a key sector in its national economy and the increase in productivity of oil and gas deposits by means of using digital technology will increase the competitiveness of Kazakhstan in the global economy. In the near future, there will be self-controled deposits managed by virtual groups of experts located in different countries of the world. This is what the digitalization concept is aiming at. This article describes the advantages of using digital technologies in the oil and gas business and its beneficial influence on the development of Kazakhstan.
